Hayalan manusia memang sepertinya tak terbatas. Tapi, justru dari hayalan itulah manusia makin tertantang untuk mewujudkan keinginannya. Thomas Alfa Edison dengan bola lampunya, Einstein dengan e=mc² nya, dan tokoh-tokoh lain yang semula dianggap gila oleh orang lain.

Kebetulan saya juga penggemar film fiksi-ilmiah seperti StarWars, Jimmy Neutron dan lain-lain. Pada film-film tersebut tidak pernah luput keberadaan mesin waktu, time machine dan lain-lain. Dalam Game RPG seperti DotA, Ragnarok, atau beberapa game lain dapat ditemui Hero dengan kemampuan Teleport. Suatu kemampuan untuk berpindah dari satu tempat ke tempat yang lain dalam waktu singkat. Dalam tradisi kuno kita saja, ada ilmu -yang dianggap- gelap seperti Santet. Santet sendiri adalah suatu teror yang dilakukan dengan memindahkan suatu benda ke tempat lain (biasanya tubuh manusia) dengan frequensi yang sangat tinggi. *ini hanya pendapat saya lho!! definisi santet bisa dilihat disini*

Nah,, Kini coba meninjau dari segi keilmuan *sok pinter mode ON*

Seorang Profesor dari New York’s City University, Michio Kaku seperti dikutip di Gizmowatch mengatakan:

Interestingly, Professor Kaku predicts teleportation, telepathy, laser guns, invisibility, force fields, and the discovery of extraterrestrial life would be possible at the most, just a hundred years from now! Infact, most of these concepts are already in experimentation phase. Category two includes the favorite time travel, attaining the speed of light and discovery of parallel universes.

Kaku yang telah menuliskan Teori-teorinya dalam buku yang berjudul “Physics of the Impossible,” juga mendeskripsikan tentang INVISIBILITY, FORCE FIELDS, LASER GUNS dan LIGHTSABERS. Padahal hal-hal tersebut biasanya hanya kita lihat di film fiksi-ilmiah. Berikut kutipan pernyataan Kaku dari NewYorkTimes:

INVISIBILITY
“In 2006, at Duke University and Imperial College, they demonstrated what is called negative index of refraction: it showed that, in principle, you can bend microwaves in a way consistent with invisibility. In the last few months — as the book was going to press — two groups at Cal Tech and in Germany were able to bend light, red laser light and blue-green laser light in a way consistent with invisibility.

The microwave device is about 8 inches across, and you can hold it in your hand. It looks like a bunch of concentric copper rings. It’s etched with implants that are maybe a centimeter across, little circuits you can actually implant in copper, that have to be smaller than the wavelength of the microwave. You shine microwave radiation on it, and the microwaves flow around the object and come out the other end. Just like a boulder in a river, downstream from the boulder, you don’t even know there was a boulder upstream. That was the proof of principle done with microwaves. With laser light, it was done at the microscopic level. I think within 10 years, we’ll get it so that we can get a large object — something that you can put in your hand — to become invisible to one frequency of visible light. The Harry Potter cloak, of course, is much more difficult.”

FORCE FIELDS
“The force fields you see in science fiction seem so natural and obvious, you think, Why don’t we invent one tomorrow? They actually violate many of the laws of electricity and magnetism worked out by Maxwell 140 years ago. Force fields do not fit any of the categories. So the force field that I envision would have to be a blend of several technologies: one is the plasma window that already exists in prototype form. If you were to reinforce it with lasers and nanotechnology, you would have a pretty potent invisible shield. For example, I could have a crisscross pattern of laser light, and an object going through this pattern will of course be incinerated. And even beyond that, a web of nanotechnology. So the combination of the three: the plasma window to give tremendous heat, the laser lattice, and the nano-spider-web, that could conceivably repel most objects. It might take a few decades to perfect this, but there’s no law of physics preventing this from happening. But remember, ‘Star Trek’ takes place in the 23rd century, as I recall. So that’s still plenty of time to get the bugs out of this.”

LASER GUNS AND LIGHTSABERS
“A lightsaber could be done with plasma — you would have a sword that ejects a long tube, and the tube has holes in it, which emits plasma. They could be heated to enormous temperatures, and in some sense, they would be able to fry any object they came close to. The problem, both with a ray gun and the light saber, the problem is a portable power pack. We see pictures of lasers blasting through objects, and we can do that now. But you have a nuclear power plant behind that laser. It’s impractical to go into a firefight with the Klingons with a hand-held ray gun, with a nuclear power plant behind you.

I think the key is going to be nanotechnology. We can put enormous amounts of energy inside a very small volume, at the level of atoms. You can use almost any energy source to energize a laser: we use chemical explosions, electron beams, hydrogen bombs, X-rays. In the future, I suspect if we have a nano-battery — that is, a battery which stores energy at the atomic level, in the same way that gasoline is a concentration of sunlight over millions of years — we may be able to create a portable ray gun. There’s nothing in laws of physics preventing it. But we can’t even get a battery to power a car with the same efficiency as gasoline. That’s how primitive we are.”
