The upcoming Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer anime adaptation has released a brief 30-second trailer, providing a first look at footage from the show and revealing a July 8 Japanese premiere.

Studio and additional staff information were also released. NAZ is the animation production company with Jumondou credited for production assistance. Meanwhile, the newly announced staff includes Hajime Hatakeyama (Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer! chief animation director and animation director) as character designer, Minoru Ookouchi (The Detective is Already Dead) as art director, Araki Ryuusuke (Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer) as color designer, Toshikazu Hisano (Id: Invaded) as photography director, and Takatsugu Wakabayashi (Azur Lane 3-year Anniversary Anime PV) as music composer.

The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer manga by Satoshi Mizukami ran from 2005 to 2010 with 10 tankoubon volumes. It is published under Shonengahosha’s Young King Comics label. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the story as:

Everything about college student Amamiya Yuuhi is average: grades, looks and his blasé outlook on life. So what happens when he awakens one day to a talking lizard, who informs him that there is a gigantic hammer in outer space, poised to split the Earth into pieces, and requests his allegiance in the fight against the forces of evil? Pretend it never happened! Unfortunately for Yuuhi, a little bit of coercion in the form of a super-powered princess prevents him from returning to his mediocre life-as-usual.

In the adventure of his lifetime, Yuuhi will join forces with the unpredictable princess and seek out a motley crew of companions to fight back against an evil mage and his horrifyingly powerful homunculus before the Biscuit Hammer destroys the planet!

The action fantasy title is directed by Nobuaki Nakanishi (Mangirl!, Koihime Musou) with series composition by Mizukami and Yuuichirou Momose (So I’m a Spider, So What?). The main cast includes Junya Enoki as Yuuhi Amamiya, Naomi Ohzora as Samidare Asahina, Kenjirou Tsuda as Noi Crezant, and Azusa Tadokoro as Hisame Asahina.
