Debuted in the era of the pandemic, Aespa finally met with fans

Jakarta (Shirogadget) – Debuting in the midst of the corona virus pandemic did not stop the K-pop group Aespa from attracting the attention of fans, but they were forced to not be able to meet in person for some time.

The group, consisting of Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningning, has been trying to pay for it since their debut in late 2020. On a tour to promote the new album “Girls”, Aespa performed at Coachella and “Good Morning America”, trying to interact with fans directly as much as possible.

“Because we didn’t have many opportunities to interact with the audience directly because we were performing during the pandemic, it didn’t feel real when we just debuted,” Ningning said. “This is a very exciting time for us.”

Quoted from Yonhap, their new album broke the record for a girl group album sales for the highest first week in the history of the K-pop industry. SM Entertainment said the album broke records by selling more than 1.42 million copies in its first week of release last Friday, citing data from K-pop chart Circle Chart.

The record for girl group album sales in the first week was previously held by BLACKPINK. As of October 2020, his first full-length album “The Album” sold 680,000 copies.

For information, the number of album sales in the first week is considered an important standard to measure the popularity of an artist or the size of fandom in the music industry.

The mini album “Girls” consists of nine songs, including the title track of the same name as well as the English and Korean versions of “Life’s Too Short”, aespa’s first English single released on June 24, 2022.

Other songs included in the mini album include three new songs “Illusion”, “Lingo”, and “ICU”, as well as previous aespa hits “Black Mamba”, “Forever”, and “Dreams Come True”.
