Hugs with a partner for 20 seconds apparently reduce stress hormones – An easy and simple way to reduce stress is simply hugging. A study revealed that cuddling with a partner was effective in reducing stress hormones.

Academics in Germany have found that hugging a partner can reduce stress levels because it releases higher amounts of oxytocin into the body. The hormone that appears during a hug is known as the love hormone.

“Oxytocin prevents an increase in stress levels by preventing the production of cortisol,” the research report said (1/7).

During the study, scientists from Ruhr University Bochum examined stress levels in 76 couples between the ages of 19 and 32. Researchers assessed their blood pressure, cortisol levels, and emotional state.

Each participant took part in a test designed to increase stress levels. As part of the test, they had to put their hand in the ice for three minutes while looking at the camera.
