Even though we already know who the superheroes will be, but there are still many mysteries that surround the film Black Adam. One of them is an antagonist who will become the enemy of Black Adam and maybe also JSA, namely Sabbac. Who exactly is this supervillain, why should Sabbac be the enemy of Black Adam? Before seeing the action in the movie Black Adam Later, let’s first identify his figure in the DC Comics universe.

Comparable to Black Adam

Sabbac is basically the name of a villain that DC assigns to someone who gets his superpowers from the devil. In DC Comics itself, there are at least two characters who have become Sabbac. The first is Timothy Karnes who first appeared in comics Captain Marvel, Jr. #4 (1943) as Captain Marvel’s nemesis (Shazam’s initial name). Timothy is a Nazi spy who tries to wreak havoc in America, before Captain Marvel defeats him. This defeat immediately made him return to being human because the demons had abandoned him.

The second and most famous Sabbac holder is none other than Ishmael Gregor. Debut in comics Outsiders Vol. 3 #8 (2004), Ishmael is a Russian mafia leader who is very hungry for power and power. To achieve this goal he tricks the previous Sabbac, Timothy, into performing a ritual that can turn Ishmael into a new Sabbac. In the process this ritual kills Timothy and everyone around him, while Ishmael manages to become a demon after he pronounces the name Sabbac, much like Shazam and Black Adam.

The difference with Shazam and Black Adam who get power from the gods, Sabbac’s power actually comes from the six demons of Hell. The powerful demons were Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Crateis, where their initials form the name Sabbac. From the source of his strength alone it was clear enough that Sabbac was not a good man, but a comparable foe to Shazam and Black Adam. In fact they did meet in 52 DC. Where Black Adam and Shazam work together to stop Sabbac from attacking Boston on Halloween.
