Yesterday Warner Bros. just surprised his fans by giving bad news about the movie cancellation Batgirl. The film, which has completed the shooting process, has actually been anticipating for a long time. Especially because of the director duo’s film Ms. Marvel Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have involved a number of interesting actors. Includes Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, alongside JK Simmons, Jacob Scipio, Brendan Fraser, and Michael Keaton.
Unfortunately, with all the processes they have gone through, the crew and cast had to accept WB’s cancellation. Based on previous reports, this cancellation could be due to the movie Batgirl was in the wrong position. With a budget of $90 million, the film is too big to run exclusively on the HBO Max streaming channel. On the other hand, the film’s budget is also too small to be a DCEU film that will be shown on the big screen. Because since the beginning of the production of the film they did not intend to appear in theaters.

Warner Bros. Official Response to Batgirl Cancellation
Recently, representatives of Warner Bros. talk to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the reason the studio canceled the film Batgirl. According to them, this cancellation was one of the strategies the studio had to take regarding the change of WB’s leadership after joining Discovery. WB also confirmed that their decision had absolutely nothing to do with the appearance of the actors involved in it.
“The decision not to release Batgirl is the result of a shift in our leadership strategy regarding the DC universe and HBO Max.” WB said. “Leslie Grace is a talented actress and this decision has nothing to do with her appearance [di film Batgirl]. We are very grateful to the filmmakers and their cast. We also hope to collaborate with everyone again in the future.”

With this explanation, WB seems to hope that fans and everyone involved in the film can understand the tough decisions they have to make. As we know, at this time WB did intend to completely overhaul the DC universe and this turned out to have an impact on films such as Batgirl. For now, it seems that the film itself has confirmed that it will not be showing in theaters or HBO Max.
