Qualcomm has finally launched their latest flagship platform, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (slightly different from the Snapdragon 8 Gen1+ naming, which was mentioned in previous rumors).
This Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (SM8475) brings an increase in performance, as well as significant power efficiency compared to the previous version, namely Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Yes, the regular version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is complained by many users who often experience problems such as overheating, throttling, and wasteful battery.
Compared to the previous version, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has a 10% increase in CPU performance, and a 30% increase in CPU power efficiency. The Cortex X2 Core on Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has a clockspeed of 3.2GHz, from the previous 3.0GHz.
In addition to the Prime Core, the Performance Core and Efficiency Core are also changed to 2.75 GHz (previously 2.5 GHz), and 1.8 GHz (previously 2.0 GHz).
Not only the CPU, the GPU also has a performance increase of up to 10% higher, and the use of power is 30% more efficient. The AI engine is also improved, with 20% better performance/wattage.

Overall, this SoC has an efficiency increase of 15%. For example, for streaming video, smartphones with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 can last 1 hour 30 minutes longer than the regular version. Then, for voice calls, light work, it can be 5 hours 30 minutes longer/
For support for other features, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has memory support for up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM (3,200MHz), as well as UFS 3.1 storage. For display, this SoC can display up to QHD+ @144Hz or 4K @ 60Hz, complete with 10-bit rendering (Rec. 2020) and HDR10+ support.
For connectivity, the Snapdragon X65 Modem has download speeds of up to 10Gbps, while FastConnect 6900 provides 6/6E Wi-Fi up to 3.6GHz. Then for Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, it is equipped with aptX Lossless and Bluetooth LE Audio features (with longer playing time thanks to increased efficiency).

Qualcomm says that smartphones with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform will first appear in the 3rd quarter of 2022. Several brands that are ready to use it include Asus ROG, Black Shark, HONOR, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, OSOM, realme, Red Magic, Redmi, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
